Tawee Legal · Bangkok
Tending a Family's Legacy with Patience and Respect
Tawee Legal was built around one conviction: that estate and inheritance matters deserve the same careful, unhurried attention that families themselves bring to them.

A Firm Built on Considered Practice
Tawee Legal was established in Bangkok by practitioners who had observed, over many years, how families navigating estate matters were often left feeling rushed or poorly informed. The firm was founded as a deliberate alternative — a place where people could take their time, ask questions freely, and leave each meeting with a clearer sense of their situation rather than a greater sense of urgency.
The name Tawee reflects a Thai word connoting multiplication and growth — a quiet acknowledgement that a well-tended estate becomes part of what a family carries forward. Our work sits at the point where law meets the private life of a household, and we approach it accordingly.
Over the years, the firm has assisted families across Bangkok and throughout Thailand, as well as expatriates and international families with assets or heirs connected to the country. We handle three defined areas of support — initial consultation, probate and estate administration, and full representation for more involved matters — and we aim to be clear about what each involves before any client proceeds.
Our office on Withayu Road is a quiet, comfortable space. We chose a central location deliberately, knowing that families sometimes travel from considerable distances, and we want that journey to feel worthwhile.

How We Work
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Thai Bar Association Members
All practitioners hold current membership with the Lawyers Council of Thailand and maintain required continuing professional development.
Strict Confidentiality
Client information is held in accordance with professional obligations and our own internal data-handling protocols. Nothing leaves the firm without express instruction.
Transparent Engagement Terms
We document the scope of each engagement and its cost before work begins. Changes to scope are discussed openly and agreed in writing.
Up-to-date Knowledge
Our team follows developments in Thai inheritance law, court procedure, and international estate coordination. We attend relevant seminars and review published judgments regularly.
Single Point of Contact
Each client is assigned a named practitioner who remains with them throughout. We avoid passing matters between team members without full briefing and client awareness.
Regular, Clear Updates
We keep clients informed at each stage. If something is taking longer than expected, we say so and explain why, rather than leaving families uncertain about progress.
Our Scope of Practice
Inheritance and Estate Law in Thailand
Thai inheritance law draws on the Civil and Commercial Code, which sets out how an estate is distributed among heirs in the absence of a will and governs the validity and execution of testamentary documents. Navigating this framework requires familiarity not only with the written law but with how courts in Bangkok and surrounding provinces have interpreted it in practice.
Probate proceedings in Thailand require an application to the relevant court, followed by a period of administration in which the appointed executor or administrator collects assets, settles liabilities, and distributes what remains. Where there is no dispute, this is a procedural matter that we can handle efficiently; where relatives hold different views, the process requires more careful management.
Cross-border estates present additional considerations. Where a deceased person held assets in Thailand and abroad, or where heirs live outside the country, coordination across legal systems is often necessary. Tawee Legal handles the Thai side of such matters and works alongside overseas counsel when required.
Legacy planning — the forward-looking aspect of this work — involves thinking through how assets should pass and to whom, setting out wishes clearly in a form that Thai law will recognise. We assist clients at any stage of life who wish to organise these matters with care, and we approach each conversation with the understanding that planning is an act of consideration for those who will follow.
